Advancing With Purpose

The Boston Beer Company released its 2025 Sustainability Report, Advancing With Purpose, highlighting progress across its environmental, social and governance priorities and reinforcing its commitment to creating long-term value for coworkers, investors, communities and stakeholders.

"Across our operations, we are embedding sustainability into how we brew, distribute and grow, while maintaining a focus on quality, innovation and long-term value creation," said Jim Koch, founder, brewer, and CEO of The Boston Beer Company.

The report highlights environmental efficiency, coworker development and community investment.

“This year's report reflects the progress we've made in building stronger systems to measure and manage our environmental and social impacts,” said Jill Westra, The Boston Beer Company’s senior manager, sustainability. “From reducing water use and recovering carbon dioxide to expanding learning opportunities for coworkers, we're focused on making steady, measurable progress in the areas that matter most to our business.”

Key 2025 Sustainability Highlights

Environmental Stewardship

  • Reduced water usage by approximately 40.7 million gallons through operational efficiency initiatives at the Samuel Adams Pennsylvania Brewery.
  • Collected more than 1.5 million pounds of CO₂ at the Samuel Adams Cincinnati Brewery through CO₂ recapture capabilities.
  • Improved truckload utilization to 95.39%, supporting efforts to reduce transportation-related emissions.
  • Diverted more than 8,100 pounds of e-waste from landfills across operating locations.
  • Established a baseline for total packaging tonnage to support future packaging improvement initiatives.

Coworkers and Workplace Culture

  • Achieved an 11.8% reduction in total injuries, a 20% reduction in OSHA-recordable injuries and a 29.2% reduction in lost-time injuries.
  • Increased average training hours per coworker to 35.8 hours.
  • Engaged more than 300 coworkers in the company's Mentoring and Learning Together (M.A.L.T.) program.
  • Provided 28 grants totaling $55,631 through the Coworker Relief Fund.

Communities and Economic Opportunity

  • Invested approximately $3 million in social impact initiatives across Boston Beer brands.
  • Continued supporting Brewing the American Dream’s 17,000 small business owners and $121 million loaned - plus 13,000 jobs created or retained - since 2008.
  • Invested more than $540,500 in nonprofits through the Beer & Benevolence initiative.
  • Engaged 994 coworkers in 2,900 hours of volunteer service through Benevolence Days.

The report also highlights Boston Beer's continued investments in sustainability governance, environmental data management and cybersecurity, including the development of a greenhouse gas inventory management plan and new tools to strengthen data security and support responsible adoption of artificial intelligence.
